Adobe PhoneGap, a distribution of Apache Cordova, is an open source framework enabling the development of applications for mobile devices using CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript instead of relying on platform-specific APIs.

PhoneGap is the open source framework that gets you building amazing mobile apps using web technology.

Device Agnostic

Building applications for each platform–iPhone, Android, Windows and more–requires different frameworks and languages. PhoneGap solves this by using standards-based web technologies to bridge web applications and mobile devices. Since PhoneGap apps are standards compliant, they’re future-proofed to work with browsers as they evolve.

Minimum Device Requirements

The best aspect of utilising Adobe's PhoneGap solution is the benefit of "Adobe® PhoneGap™ Build". PhoneGap Build is a cloud based service allowing you to upload your zipped up source code, and certificate files, and the service will output an .IPA (Apple Package), an .APK (Android Package), and any other configured executable file. This then only requires a Mac Mini (or similar low cost apple device) to upload the IPA file directly to the itunes store. Android is even easier, allowing you to upload the APK directly to the Play Store through your current browser.

This reduces the development footprint, and allows you to quickly and effectively create mobile applications for all purposes.
