Since 2016 Ocean Heroes has shared the thrill and wonder of surfing with over three thousand autistic children, enabling them to build self-belief in a supportive and fun environment. Founded by two outstanding Perth locals, today Ocean Heroes represents a body of volunteers and surfers who help run lessons and events all over Australia.

Not for Profit Website Development for Ocean Heroes

When we first heard about Ocean Heroes and the work of founders, Luke and Sam, we couldn’t wait to add our support in transferring their web presence from Wordpress over to Kentico, giving them a new look and an easy way to manage their website.

The Challenge

Sharing the ocean vibes is something founders Sam Moyle and Luke Hallam are passionate about. They both have full-time jobs, and currently operate the organisation in their ‘spare time’. Activating their team of loyal volunteers and organisations, Ocean Heroes runs lessons and events all over Australia, year-round.

They knew the new website needed to be reliable and quick, handling a large amount of traffic, as events typically book out within hours of going live. Most importantly the site needed to provide a way in which parents can find the latest events and volunteers to sign up to help.

  • Event integration
  • Volunteer sign up form
  • Information for multiple user types
  • Stable performance supporting large amounts of online traffic
  • Easy to manage content management system

The Solution

Using Kentico as the CMS, our team migrated the site using a completely new design. With copywriting support from the wonderful Wendy White, the project quickly took shape within weeks.

To handle event management, we integrated the website with Eventbrite. Now content didn’t need to be double handled, and Ocean Heroes can leverage the ticket management side benefits of using the Eventbrite tool. A new navigation and structure were applied to the site, allowing volunteers to sign up to help, parents to view upcoming surfing events and allow people to donate to support the on-going operation of the organisation.

“We needed to quickly create a new web presence as part of our way of communicating with our network. Our events book out within hours, and we receive hundreds of direct messages and emails from parents all across Australia.

The new site gave us a single location to display our information and a central point of contact.

I highly recommend the Integranet team, and loved the personal approach they took to getting to know our values, what we want, and how we want it."

- Sam Moyle Co-Founder of Ocean Heroes
